  1. About the BBEdit 2.5 Demo

  4. This demonstration version of BBEdit 2.5 is identical in function to
  5. the full version, with the following exceptions:
  6.  
  7.     -    “Save” and “Save As...” are not supported. You can create a
  8.         new and untitled editing window, but you can’t save it to
  9.         disk; conversely, you can open and edit existing text files,
  10.         but you can’t save the changes.
  11.         
  12.     -    Every page that you print will have “BBEdit 2.5 Demo” stamped
  13.         across it, regardless of the setting of the “Rubber Stamp”
  14.         option when printing.
  15.         
  16.     -    When you start up the demo version, a dialog box will come
  17.         up reminding you that it is a demo version.
  18.  
  19. In addition, the full BBEdit 2.5 package includes source to the
  20. standard BBEdit Extensions and information on how to write your
  21. own.

  23. Quick Start

  26. BBEdit is pretty much self-installing and self-configuring. To take
  27. specific advantage of ToolServer, you’ll need to copy the contents
  28. of the “ToolServer Support” folder to the appropriate places in
  29. your MPW folder hierarchy. To use XTND translation, you’ll need
  30. to copy the contents of the “XTND Folder” into the Extensions
  31. folder in your system folder (if you’re using System 7), or
  32. into the system folder itself (if you’re using System 6).

  34. All other items in the distribution should remain in the same
  35. folder as the “BBEdit 2.5 Demo” application.

  37. Obtaining the Full Version

  40. If you choose to purchase the full version of BBEdit 2.5, not only
  41. will you receive a fully-functional version of the application, you’ll
  42. also receive documentation, tech support, and eligibility for future
  43. upgrades and discounts on new products.

  45. BBEdit 2.5 is available for $99. A discounted price of $49 is available
  46. under the following circumstances:

  48.     -    If you own THINK C, THINK Pascal, or MPW, send in a photocopy
  49.         of your purchase receipt. If a receipt is not available, send
  50.         in a photocopy of the first page of the user’s manual.
  51.         
  52.     -    If you own Vantage or QUED/M, send in the -original- first 
  53.         page of your user’s manual.
  54.         
  55.     -    If you paid the shareware fee for Alpha, send in a photocopy
  56.         of -both- sides of the cancelled check showing payment of the
  57.         shareware fee.

  59.     -    If you have a previous version of BBEdit or BBEdit Lite, 
  60.         send in a printed screen shot of the “Get Info” window for
  61.         your copy of BBEdit.
